Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Fund

HPC Scholarships are dependent on donations from our supporters. These individuals recognize the value in our conferences and the need to provide education and networking opportunities to build the next generation of home performance professionals. Whether you are a novice just beginning your career or a veteran who wants to learn the latest trends, all levels of experience in all facets of our industry are eligible for a scholarship. All proceeds donated are used towards scholarships.

Each scholarship provides an opportunity to further the advancement of the building/home performance industry. Scholarship recipients from all sectors, with various barriers and in any stage of their careers, are awarded funding to assist in their participation at HPC’s educational events. Donors may designate contributions to support specific types of recipients (i.e., women, students, or attendees from a specific sector within the industry) to encourage diverse participation.

The Mike Rogers Memorial Scholarship Fund

This past year, the home performance industry lost a dear friend. We are paying tribute to one of our most tireless advocates and greatest contributors to the home performance industry by establishing the Mike Rogers Memorial Scholarship Fund. Mike was passionate about establishing a strong, diverse, and qualified workforce.

Beginning with the 2020 National Home Performance Conference, small contracting businesses with annual sales equal to or less than $5 million, will be eligible to apply for a scholarship that will not only cover the cost of conference registration, but will also include a travel stipend.

Read our tribute to Mike here.

Women In Building Performance Scholarships

As a tribute to the women leaders in the building science and home performance field who have championed the “whole house” approach, HPC will award a limited number of scholarships for women to attend National Home Performance Conferences.

The submission deadline has passed for 2019 scholarships. Please check back next year to apply. For questions regarding scholarships, email Robyn Hall at rhall@homeperformance.org.

Here's what past scholarship recipients had to say about their experiences:

"I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship to my FIRST HPC National Home Performance conference earlier this year (2017) in Nashville, TN ….. And what a conference it was!  There was a wonderful selection of breakout sessions to attend, many vendor booths that allowed me to view new products and have a first hand conversation with knowledgeable sales reps. There were great networking opportunities at lunch and the receptions each evening, along with many industry leaders.  I even attended a breakfast with a great group of women  “Women in Home Performance”.  It was time well spent and I walked away with more knowledge and confidence for sure.  The convention center was amazing, and HPC was front and center with great execution of the event.  There is no doubt that this experience will help my business grow and help me grow as an employer and biz owner.  I am very grateful for the opportunity.  I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to increase their knowledge in this industry.

As an added bonus I received a free professional photo at the photo booth, and won a free registration to next year’s conference in Philly from E4The Future! Thank you again for the chance to attend this great conference!"

Pam Arrasmith Draft Busters, Inc.

"At the (2017 national) conference, I had the opportunity to meet energy professionals from all over the USA, including Saipan! It was interesting to learn how various DOE weatherization organizations operate throughout the USA. My intent when applying for the scholarship was to hopefully make professional connections throughout the USA and to find encouragement in moving forward in the energy industry given the current political climate. The industry leaders I met sparked positivity for our industry. I walked away from the conference with the words "the people of the United States have already bought into energy efficiency, regardless of the current political climate". In addition to the professional aspects of the conference, I walked away with a few new friends in this industry which I have Chris from HPC to thank. When I lost my phone at the conference, he walked every hallway and also the cocktail party with me to help me find my phone. During the search, he introduced me to some really great people which lead a couple of really fun nights of the local Nashville experience."

Christin WillmanC&C Energy Audits and Diagnostics

"I am extremely grateful to have received a scholarship for the 2016 ACI National Home Performance Conference in Austin, Texas. The diverse class selection allowed me learn about the latest in weatherization policy and practices across a wide array of home performance topics. I enjoyed the many networking opportunities at the conference; there is nothing better than discussing weatherization with like-minded peers. I definitely came away from the 2016 ACI National Home Performance Conference with new ideas to try out and some new friends."

Evan Langhorst, Cleveland Housing Network

“I just returned from the ACI conference (Austin, 2016) and wish to thank those that made it possible for me to attend.  It was a fantastic learning, growing and connecting opportunity that was very meaningful to my work.”

Kellye Markowski, Energy Smart Homes

"I wanted to thank the ACI organization again so much for letting me attend ACI's 2012 Annual Leadership Summit and National Home Performance Conference in Baltimore in March. There were so many choices, so many experts, so many excellent presentations, so much useful information that my only problem was deciding which to attend."

Susanne A. Sotirchos, Field Environmental Officer at the HUD Baltimore Field Office

"I wanted to take this opportunity to thank your organization for sponsoring my scholarship. As a woman-owned company, I was able to gain so much insight into the business."

Sue Willison, Principal at Absolute Energy Solutions

“The Home Performance Coalition scholarship I received brought me to Austin, Texas to one of the best professional experiences I have ever had. The conference was enlightening, informative and a lot of fun."

Victor Baisley, Energy Efficiency Coach, SEVCA

"To be surrounded by a room of believers - those who dedicate their businesses and programs in combating the issues of health and safety, comfort and energy inefficiency in homes, was much like being in a utopic world. The Home Performance Contractor Scholarship afforded me the opportunity to be surrounded by difference makers, carbon emission reducers and forward thinkers. I will forever be grateful for the amount of resources, peer group discussions and mentorships I received during and post conference. Not to mention Continuing Education Units! I hope to see old and meet new friends at the next conference."

Crystal Faison, President/CEO at Shepherd Design & Construction, LLC
