2017 HPC Contractor Business Workshop Series
Thank you to our gracious hosts, Conservation Consultants, Inc. in Pittsburgh and the Energy Coordinating Agency in Philadelphia. We had a great group of attendees in both Pennsylvania locations who are passionate about expanding their knowledge and growing their business. We joined together with three of the industry’s leading thinkers for an intimate 1.5 day intensive session focusing on Quality Management, Sales and Marketing and many busy contractors took advantage of this unique, intensive and coordinated training developed exclusively for home performance companies. Each workshop was also approved for 3.75 BPI Credits.
Mike Rogers, John Tooley, Peter Troast shared their wealth of experience in the disciplines of sales and marketing; a deep, real world understanding of the challenges of selling energy efficiency services; and long history of training thousands of building and home performance professionals nationally on maximizing quality of delivering value. Each attendee received training and coaching in an integrated, custom-designed series of sessions, where they learned proven techniques for growing their home performance business.
With a combination of presentations, interaction and take away materials, this workshop provided outstanding insights into proven management methods and tools to implement them. The leading business minds in home performance worked with each attendee to take their ideas from conception to implementation to measurable growth. John Tooley, Advanced Energy
John is a long time industry veteran. Former contractor, John is a building science expert and has enormous knowledge around quality management systems. John will help contractors fully integrate quality management into every aspect of their businesses, reducing costs, errors, and increasing quality and volume of jobs. As a senior consultant for Advanced Energy he has spent more than 15 years helping the industry implement quality process management. “There’s no one in our industry who has advanced the delivery of quality contracting to customers more than John,” said Larry Zarker, BPI CEO.
Peter Troast, Energy Circle
Peter is recognized as one of the country's foremost authorities on marketing for home performance, HVAC and other efficiency related contracting companies. He authors the widely-read Energy Circle blog and is a passionate advocate for the power of the whole house home performance business model. He and his team work with over 350 companies in 49 states to grow their businesses through services like website design and development, search engine optimization, lead generation, and strategic content production. He is a popular and high ranking speaker about marketing for contractors at ACI, RESNET, ACCA, BPI, and EGIA conferences and events. For 2015, he received the Tony Woods Award for excellence in advancing the home performance industry.
Mike Rogers, OmStout Consulting
Mike Rogers is the President of OmStout Consulting, LLC. A nationally recognized expert in residential energy-efficiency, he works with contractors and programs to scale sustainable market approaches to improving homes. Previously, Mike was with ABM Energy and was the Senior Vice President with GreenHomes America (an ABM subsidiary), where he led the creation of a national training program for single measure, shell and HVAC companies to make the transition to integrated home performance. For 20 years, he has worked on energy-efficiency from individual homes to policy at the state and federal levels. Mike has been a frequent presenter at national conferences and meetings in the energyefficiency, green building, and indoor air quality industries. Mike had an 11-year affiliation with the U.S. EPA and was the lead developer and primary supporter of the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program.
