What do you enjoy the most about your role at HPC?
There are really two things about my role here at HPC that I love:
I love working with our HPC staff and our consultants. We have the best team not only professionally but also personally. We all get along very well, work well as a team and everyone really cares about what they do and works hard at it. That makes for a well-oiled machine and makes coming to work every day really enjoyable. We also have great consultants in Lois, our meeting planner and Tom, our registration provider. It’s so much fun getting to work with them at our conferences.
I also love getting to interact in person with attendees at our conferences. I have so much fun talking and joking with them. Over the last few years, I’ve developed friendships with so many of them and it’s always wonderful to see them each year at National. Every year I make new friends and I always look forward to catching up with everyone at the next one.
What is your proudest accomplishment at HPC?
I guess that would be helping us to get through the transition from ACI to HPC. When I started at the beginning of November, we had literally just become HPC. There was so much work to be done and so many things to be organized. Our CFO, Jean Nagy, was coordinating it all, and I was here to help her get everything done. We had to set up all new accounts with our vendors, payroll company, insurance companies, inform our attendees, etc. It took months to get it all accomplished. I love a big project and was very happy that I was here to help get everything completed.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
My husband and I became empty nesters for the very first time in January, with the exception of our sweet French bulldog, Raleigh. We love having her and taking her to the park and on her daily walks. We especially love to travel! It’s been so nice to plan trips just the two of us without having to worry about the kids and whether anyone would be missing school or exams, etc.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself we may not know.
I grew up in the south and am the “southern belle” of the office. My parents and family are from Nashville, Tennessee (where I was born) and I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. I just recently moved to Pittsburgh about 5 years ago. Apparently, I still have a heavy southern accent, according to my coworkers.
