Castelli & Cullen at NASEO Conference
This week, Brian Castelli, President and Chief Executive Officer and Joe Cullen, Director of Policy and State Outreach are attending the National State Energy Office Association's (NASEO) Annual Meetings in Providence Rhode, Island: Celebrating 30 Years of Supporting State Energy Policy and Program Successes.
This year's NASEO Meeting highlights its 30th anniversary of working with states to share best practices in advancing practical energy policies and programs. There are a wide variety of working sessions and presentations but several are critical to HPC's ongoing work with state, federal and local governments.
One session focused on residential energy labeling policies and programs that seek to transform the home energy market when paired with innovative financing mechanisms such as incentives, low-interest loans, credit enhancements, and emerging structures such as residential Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE).
In another session, the NASEO Buildings and Financing Committees hosted a joint session to discuss major policies and programs affecting building energy consumption, performance, and efficiency, including the role of State Energy Offices. The NASEO Financing Committee facilitates state collaboration and peer learning on key energy efficiency and renewable energy financing mechanisms and focused on recent developments in energy investment partnerships, green banks, and residential PACE.
Still another NASEO workshop focused on how energy costs place a significant burden on America's vulnerable communities, including working class families, minorities, low-income residents, the disabled, and others. This specific workshop focused on the details of WAP and LIHEAP program guidelines to help State Energy Offices better craft energy programs and initiatives that incorporate and implement energy affordability, resilience, and equitable access in meaningful and impactful ways.
