California has been at the forefront of many building energy efficiency code advancements, forging a path for federally adopted codes like ASHRAE and IECC to follow. Because of these advancements, the federal government and many states now recognize that codes and standards are a cost-effective way to increase building energy efficiency through adoption of established home performance practices. The Investor Owned Utilities influence continuous improvements of California's energy codes and targets market actors throughout the industry, providing education, outreach, technical support, tools and resources to increase compliance with the building energy standards. This session will explore the many ways in which more stringent energy codes transform the market and increase the value of home performance.
